Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), directed by Joe Johnston, follows Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), a frail but determined man who volunteers for a top-secret experiment during World War II, transforming him into the super-soldier Captain America. With the help of Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) and Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), he battles the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) and the forces of Hydra to protect the world. The film also stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes and Tommy Lee Jones as Colonel Phillips.
